Gopher Removal and Trapping
Sick of Gophers Damaging Your Landscaping?
Our gardens and landscaping look like an all-you-eat buffet to Gophers. They can dine on ornamental plants, vines, shrubs, and tree roots.
Although their eyesight is not that keen, their sense of smell is no joke. They smell their way to your plant. Even one gopher can cause a lot of damage. They can even pull an entire plant down into their burrow.
Evidence of Gophers
California is home to five species of pocket gophers. They range in length from 6 to 10 inches long. They live in an underground system of tunnels or burrows. The loose dirt from the tunnel is pushed out and forms the tell-tale mounds.
Most of the feed tunnels are 6 to 12 inches from the surface with their nest sometimes lying up to 6 feet deep.
A solitary gopher can live in a system of burrows that span 200 to 1,2oo sq. ft. In irrigated fields of food crops, the density per acre can be up to 60 individual gophers.
Our Gopher Abatement Services
- Trapping – this is still the most effective and safe method of gopher removal. First, we locate the main tunnel. We then set traps in as many side tunnels as possible.
- Toxic Baiting – We apply strychnine-treated grain into the gopher’s main tunnel. We never apply this above ground.
- Fumigation – We can use aluminum phosphide, a restricted-use application requiring a state license.
